A full circle moment. When I graduated from high school I KNEW I wanted to be a psychologist. I took my first Intro to Psych. course and felt like I knew everything and it was so boring that I switched majors. Had someone told me then that actually that meant I should stay in that major, I can only imagine what my life would be. But, I landed back here anyway, where I was meant to be.
It started a year ago when I decided a faster path to heal my own grief would be to take a course and become a grief educator. I did not feel I could help anyone else as I was so deep in my own stuff, I didn’t think I could handle anyone else’s. Halfway through that course, I felt an overwhelming pull that I could in fact be a support system for other’s with a shared experience. Why? Because the people I connect with the most are the one’s who have similar experiences. And, well, my life has not been easy and I have had MANY experiences allowing me to relate to so many others. As I started supporting other’s in their grief, and ran a local grief support group, I felt inspired to add to my background. Messages kept being delivered to me from friends, acquaintances, co-workers, that how I show up for people has a profound impact on them. Life Coaching made sense to me. I proudly told my daughter that I signed up for a life coaching course. She asked me what it was and how it was different from therapy. To which I said “ I have NO idea! Ask me again when I am done the course!" I jumped in with both feet and here I am. Feeling very comfortably where I am meant to be.
I plan to use this as a place for me to articulate my life, what helps me, how I work with my client’s and provide simple resources for those that need them. We live with our experiences, our trauma’s and our grief. They don’t ever go away, but I have developed a tool kit to carry them with me and I hope to help other’s do the same.
